Opening Ceremony of the Monument Commemorating Genocide Victims in Parakar Village

On April 20, the RA NA Chairman Galust Sahakyan and TAES Minister Armen Yeritsyan partook in the solemn ceremony of the opening of the Monument dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial and the Consecration of the cross-stone in Parakar community of Armavir region. Armavir Governor Ashot Ghahramanyan, Deputy of the RA National Assembly Arakel Movsisyan also attended the event. The anointing of the cross-stone dedicated to the Genocide victims was conducted by Primate of the Diocese of Armavir His Grace Bishop Sion Adamyan.

In his opening remarks, Head of Parakar community Samvel Vardanyan expressed gratitude to the residents, benefactors, as well as Deputy of the National Assembly Arakel Movsisyan, benefactor Rouben Manukyan, for supporting in the construction works of the monument.

In his speech, the NA Chairman Galust Sahakyan highlighted the joint struggle of the Armenian people towards the international condemnation of the Armenian Genocide as a demander, as a nation and state, carrying great cultural heritage. He stressed the need for national unity, not only in the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, but also in the solution of all issues of national and state importance.

During the event, Parakar community Art School students, pupils of the village Cultural House and secondary schools demonstrated their works and performances dedicated to the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide.
