Earthquake hit 20 km northeast from the city of Salmas, Iran

On January 18 at 14:08 local time (at 10:08 by GMT), the Seismological Network of the Regional Survey for Seismic Protection of the MES of the RA recorded an earthquake at the northern latitude 38.29⁰ and eastern longitude 44.96⁰ geographic coordinates (20 km northeast from the city of Salmas, Iran), with 5.6 magnitude and 10 km depth.
The tremor measured magnitude 8 points at the epicenter area.
The earthquake was felt in the provinces of Syunik and Vayots Dzor with 3-4 points intensity, in the provinces of Ararat and Armavir, as well as in the city of Yerevan with 2-3 points intensity.
