Earthquake hits 9 km southwest from the city of Marand, the Islamic Republic of Iran

On October 5 at 04:21 local time (at 00:21 by GMT), the Seismological Network of the Regional Survey for Seismic Protection of the MES of the RA recorded an earthquake at the northern latitude 38.35⁰ and eastern longitude 45.72⁰ geographic coordinates (9 km southwest from the city of Marand, Iran), with 5.5 magnitude and 10 km depth.
The tremor measured magnitude 7-8 points at the epicenter area.
The earthquake was felt in Syunik Province with 5-6 points intensity, in the provinces of Vayots Dzor and Ararat with 3-4 points, in Kotayk Province, in the city of Yerevan, as well as in the city of Stepanakert in the Republic of Artsakh with 3 points intensity.
