March 22 is World Water Day

World Water Day is celebrated on March 22 every year since 1993 by the decision of United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro. UN suggests counties to hold events on that day dedicated to the usage and conservation of water resources and annually dedicate an event to any specific topic relevant to current or future global challenges.

The Day is dedicated to the implementation of necessary actions to relate with solution of the water issues as well as focusing on the importance of freshwater protection and accessibility.

Annual events dedicated to the Water Day are held by UN on new topics: in 2020 the World Water Day is on “Water and Climate Change” and inextricable connection between each other. The theme of the World Water Day 2020 is “Everyone has a role to play”.

The main aim is to identify how our approach to water usage will contribute to reduce floods, drought, water scarcity and pollution and help to fight climate change. We can keep us healthy and save lives adapting to climate change from the point of view of water resources.

We have no way to wait. The issues related to climate and water resources should be considered as priority.
