TAES Minister Received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq Gazi Tahir Khaled

On March 26, RA TAES Minister Armen Yeritsyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq Gazi Tahir Khaled.
The topic of discussion was the rapprochement of relations and the establishment of closer cooperation between Armenia and Iraq.
Note, that the RA TAES Minister A. Yeritsyan is the co-chair of the Armenian-Iraq Intergovernmental Committee. From the Iraq side, the Committee is co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq Rowsch Nuri Shaways. His last visit to Armenia was previous year, as the head of the delegation of Iraq businessmen.
Thanking TAES Minister for the warm reception, Ambassador Khaled noted, that Iraq is interested in deepening relations with Armenia.
As a co-chair of the Armenian-Iraq Intergovernmental Committee, Minister Yeritsyan expressed confidence, that the Armenian-Iraq cooperation will enter practically a new effective phase, indicating, that this was also the attitude of the President and Prime Minister.
In particular, the Ambassador and the Minister, discussed the working program of the Armenian-Iraq Intergovernmental Committee session, scheduled in Baghdad, in the capital of Iraq, in October.
Note, that in the result of the Committee activities, the process of obtaining visas for businessmen of both countries has been simplified. There are also direct and inverse flights Armenia-Iraq, and work is underway on solving the problem of overland communication, which is likely to be realized through the Islamic Republic of Iran, as the latter is a friendly country for both Armenia and Iraq.
Summing up the meeting, Minister Yeritsyan noted, that there is still a lot of work to be done in the development of the Armenian-Iraq cooperation, especially in the sphere of tourism:
“I am sure, that in the development of the Armenian-Iraq cooperation we’ll practically move forward together, and in the near future will have a significant progress in the development of inter-state relations”, said A. Yeritsyan.
