Ministry of Emergency Situations
of the Republic of Armenia

Within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, scientific workers of the department of the Institute of Rock Structures and Mechanics of Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, doctors Pavel Kalenda and Libor Neuman arrived in Yerevan.

The Czech side will support the Ministry in re-launch and upgrading of the Geophysical Observatory in Garni.

Recently, in one of the rooms of the tunnel of the observatory, instead of the old one, by joint efforts of the Armenian and Czech specialists has been installed a new digital inclinometer by which would be measured crustal deformation, as a direct indication of a possible strong earthquake. Inclinometer fully operates, and the data are obtained in real time.

An agreement on further cooperation was obtained.
