RTA on Yerevan-Meghri Highway

On July 1, at 07:33 information was received that a car accident had occurred on Vayk-Yeghegnadzor highway near Malishka village, Vayots Dzor Province, there were blocked citizens inside the car: the rescuers’ help was needed.

Two fire brigades and the operative group of the Regional Rescue Department left for the scene.

It turned out that on the 130th km of Yerevan-Meghri highway “Opel Astra” with license plate 34 MR 546 and “Nissan Elgrand” with license plate 35 AS 204 had collided. As a result of the accident one of the passengers of “Opel Astra” died on the spot and the other one was taken to the medical centre of Yeghegnadzor town, where he died as well.

The rescuers took the driver out of “Opel Astra” and removed to ambulance car. The driver and the other passenger were hospitalized to the medical centre of Vayk town and later - to “Sourb Astvatsamayr” medical centre. According to doctors the driver was in serious and the passenger was in fair condition.

The driver and passengers of “Nissan Elgrand” (citizens of Islamic Republic of Iran) were hospitalized to the medical centre of Yeghegnadzor town. According to doctors the casualties were in fair condition. The rest of the passengers received necessary medical aid and were discharged.

The rescuers disconnected the automotive batteries and closed the gas valves of the cars.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in National Crisis Management Center was informed about the accident.
